About Us

I remember following my first recipe around the age of 7 or so in our log cabin, nestled in the hills of East Hoosick NY. I waited anxiously for my first slice of sizzling french toast to finish cooking, hoping it would taste (maybe) as good as my Mothers. It was then that my desire to taste, cook, observe and prepare food for others began. I fondly remember dressing up in my best as a child,passing trays of hors d'oeuvres at my Nonnie’s cocktail parties. Helping Gram in one way or another, prepare for a thanksgiving dinner for upwards of 20 family members. My mother, Mima as the grandchildren refer to, continues to carry on the tradition of cooking, entertaining and nurturing people through food with love, and some of the same recipes. I toured the CIA in Hyde Park and was in awe. I was only 12 or so, but I remember being enamoured by the students preparing and serving the food; it was my first taste of squid (which I found out after the fact-I thought it was pasta of some sort!) Fast forward to my first waitressing job the year after high school. It was a local upscale restaurant with up to 5 courses. I loved it, but didn’t think I was cut out for the pace and grueling hours. So, onto studying Graphic Design! Here I am today. A daughter. A sister. A mother to 3 amazing sons. A Partner to the most loving and supportive man I know. Here I am, pursuing a wildly crazy dream of sharing my love of food with others. I love to see the expression on one’s face when they receive or taste something of mine. I love to observe people talking about it, savoring bite after bite. Or even watching the expressions of people as they enter my home, to a beautifully set table-it is what brings me happiness. I never did pursue catering, but have been baking for years. My vision for BluEyeBaker is an evolutionary one; start with dessert requests and see where the rest takes me. Bring back supper clubs perhaps? We shall see... You’ll find images of many of my desserts (among other things) on the site, but don't be afraid to request something you don’t see. I may or may not be able to accommodate, but I’ll always try my best! Thanks for checking us out. I cannot wait to hear from you and deliver.
